PERSONAL WORK :: Youth Culture & Lifestyle Work
In between a handful of client projects spanning the past few weeks here at the studio & being on the road for editorial assignments, we have been busying ourselves with lots of personal work. We seem to often get caught up in a lot of project leads and prospective jobs that end up unfolding after the details either pan out, or end up in the ice cooler. I can explain it like my brother’s phrase he got accustomed to during his service in the US Navy, “Stand by for a Possible-Maybe..” It’s just the way our industry goes, but we truly thrive on it and it drives us to produce the best possible work and content in the meantime.
With that being said, we have made our own work between the deadlines and projects currently on the table. One aspect to our direction this year is to step out with a portfolio of product-based work that aligns itself with our highly-produced conceptual images and continued pursuit of shooting youth culture style lifestyle photography. Truth be told, it’s a great break from shooting conceptual and portrait work that has landed us in the advertising and entertainment market. Lot’s more to come in the next few months and it’s my hope to show some of our product work very soon.
Another facet to our direction this year is shooting more approachable lifestyle work. I love shooting this stuff, as it translates itself so well to many areas within the advertising industry and opens a ton of new doors by changing-up the type of photos found in our portfolio. Here a handful of new shots spanning two shoots this winter/spring. I’m still waiting on two rolls of 35mm Portra 160 film to come back from Richard Photo Lab..
